EnviroMUN 2018

Environmental Model UN started with a blast on 2nd June 2018, Saturday morning at the very own College of Engineering, Trivandrum campus. The idea of this model UN is to promote the
importance of environment and also to highlight the initiative of the UN which is called UN Environment. There is a serious need for everyone to understand the idea of handing over the environment as it is to future generations. More or less, we are like tenants living on planet earth and passing the facilities and privileges of mother nature to future generations should be our primary responsibility. This Model UN witnessed the committee proceedings of United Nations Environment Program with the agenda being, „Advocacy of Global Mix Energy Policy with respect to Renewable Resources‟ and United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime with agenda being, “Impact of Trafficking in Wildlife and Timber”. The chief guest at the opening ceremony was T P Srinivasan IFS (rtd) who had worked at the United Nations for about 20 years and also was an Indian Ambassador in Vietnam and a few other
countries.

The chief guest for the valedictory session was Ms Padma Manati IFS, Director, Department of Climate Change, overnment of Kerala. The Model UN witnessed the culmination on a grand note with honouring the winning delegates and the executive board and experience sharing.
